I deleted Instagram from my phone. And as I detox from algorithm short form content (while still shamefully watching YouTube shorts), I still want to know what’s going on.
I have turned to newsletters to fill that gap that content creators had previously filled. While I do have respect for the work that people on Instagram/TikTok do, I had to distance myself from the addictive nature of algorithm based content.
So now I get content shipped right to my mailbox. Here are some of my favorite publications out there.
If you are interested in design and art, this newsletter is a delightful peek into the London scene. As I have been teaching myself graphic design, I appreciate seeing the current names and trends making waves.
This is a nice way to take a break from the normal drudgery of emails with some beautiful words. A good way to stay present and connected.
If you would like to stay informed on the military action of the US, this is a weekly way to confront the horrors. It helps me stay informed, while not succumbing to the deluge of graphic onslaught of the internet.
This is a new newsletter from Robin Wall Kimmerer’s brand new organization. As in her writing, this is another avenue to bridge the artificial gap between human and nature.
Let me know in the comments if you read any other newsletters or engage in other long form content to ease away the brain rot.
