Losing Kate

I am happy to share that I have been accepted into the masters program of graphic design at SCAD. I will be starting in the fall of 2026 at the Atlanta campus.

I was planning on writing a post about finishing my application and the my feelings of anticipation. But SCAD beat me to the punch.

I still don’t quite believe it’s real yet. I have been teaching myself design, building my portfolio, and creating my application for just about a year.

I acheived my goal. But now there are so many goals ahead of me to set and reach.

I detailed many of them in my personal essays for my application. I spoke about my desire to work in print media. My hope to one day run my own studio that publishes books and puts out a literary magazine.

But what I didn’t say in my essays—because it felt far too vulnerable—is that I have no idea how I’ll pull any of this off. But SCAD will be a place to rest. Even though it will be an imense amount of work, I find solice in dedicating myself to learning.

All of my art is rooted in a desire to tell stories. Graphic design to me is as much about aesthetics as it is about communication. So I am honored to be attending such a prestigous school and learn how to better tell the stories I am meant to tell.
